Greetings UF and SFC Students!
What a blessing from God that you are taking the time to investigate local bodies of Christ in Gainesville! We believe 2010 is going to be a special year and this Spring is going to be a special semester because we know God is moving and doing great works all around us. If you are looking for a ministry and church, we encourage you to keep this search up. We know that often ministries and churches do fail, but we pray by the grace of God that we might help you get closer to Him. If you have been searching for God and/or a group of Christians, let us know or just find a Wednesday or Sunday you can stop by. Come and let's follow Jesus together!
Get ready Gulfcoast Getaway is coming up on 1/15-1/17!
This past semester a number of us in the ministry read through Philippians, Colossians, and Ephesians. As we talked about that week’s given chapter, our conversation often came back to the fact that these books were likely written during a time their author, Paul, was incarcerated and yet he sounded surprisingly free. He sounds free in his call for change in their interpersonal relationships. He challenges them not settle for strained and tense relationships with those closest to them or us, and that, instead, we can emulate the example of Christ and find true peace-Philippians. He sounds free in his encouragement that those powers of this world that seem so big they can barely be named are penultimate. There is a greater and final power that stands over them-whether they know it or not -Colossians. And Paul sounds free in his hope that the “dividing wall” that separates and becomes the opportunity we use to distrust and mistreat, is already being torn down. He expresses this last hope with full knowledge that our hatred of those different is actually a symptom of a larger sickness, our separation from God and distrust that He has provided enough for all of his children. If walls and bars do not a prison make, Paul was one of the most free people we have ever encountered. If you are interested in exploring that type of freedom, join us at one of our On Campus Lunch Bible Studies. check other thoughts from our on campus lunch Bible Class and others!
